How we created a bespoke Feasting Kit for indie film 'A Cycle of Love' – and Sanjay’s journey across London to deliver it to Mina Dale.
Two months ago, we had a super special request land in our inbox. A film production company was preparing for the premiere of a beautiful new indie film called A Cycle of Love and wanted to know whether we could create a bespoke spice tin to be given to guests... obviously we said yes!
We have always loved creating gifts that tell a story. Our Feasting Kits already bring together food, family, colour and culture, so the chance to make something inspired by a film felt like a natural fit for us. The team set to work creating a special tin that reflected the spirit of A Cycle of Love, never imagining quite where the project would take us next.
Before the premiere, Sanjay was invited to an early screening of the film. He went along knowing that Spice Kitchen had played a small part in the occasion, but he came away genuinely moved by it...
The Film
A Cycle of Love is an inspiring, heart-warming true-life adventure about self-belief, destiny and the courage to risk everything for love. Its story crosses continents, travelling from Delhi to Sweden, and explores the kind of love that asks people to be brave, trust in possibility and follow the path opening up before them – however unlikely it might initially appear.
The Journey Across London
The following day, Sanjay was in London and had the idea to get one of the tins into the hands of one of the film’s stars, Mina Dale. So he sent her a message and amazingly, she replied. She only had half an hour, so he set off across the city, still not entirely sure whether he would make it. Thankfully, he did, and Sanjay spent a wonderful half-hour with Mina and her dad, talking about the film and finally placing the tin into her hands. After all the work that had gone into creating it – and the impromptu dash across London – seeing their reaction made everything worthwhile. They both loved it.
We may have begun with a request to create something for a film premiere, but the story became so much more personal once Sanjay had watched the film, connected with Mina and was able to give her the tin himself.
Perhaps that is one reason this particular collaboration feels so fitting. A Cycle of Love is about following your heart, believing in what feels possible and finding the courage to take the journey. Sanjay’s trip across London was only a tiny adventure by comparison, but it was driven by that same feeling... this mattered, and we had to try!
